About this Site
I'm a creative producer, artist + advocate living in Seattle. This notebook is updated periodically. It covers a wide range of what I'm working on, things I'm seeing and thinking about, as well resources for artists. // Tonya Lockyer was nominated for a Seattle Mayor’s Arts Award + named “one of the 13 key cultural change-makers in the Pacific Northwest” by The Seattle Times. They are Artistic Executive Director of Velocity (Seattle’s nexus for new dance), Chair of Capitol Hill Arts District, and Cornish College of the Arts faculty. Lockyer has produced over a hundred performance + education projects with artists such as Tere O'Connor, Ralph Lemon, zoe|juniper + Cherdonna. They have also sought to widen the exposure of Seattle dance by mentoring local artists, initiating the PNW Platform NYC; and curating for Seattle Art Fair, Bumbershoot, Frye Art Museum + Waterfront Seattle. Her own award-winning performances include inter-cultural collaborations, 24-hour solos, + public interventions presented by The National Museum of Women in the Arts, On the Boards, and in Canada, Europe, Russia. Lockyer is published in dance journals + the book Vu du Corps.
